Elon Musk hints at possible Gmail competitor, Xmail

Elon Musk has teased that X, his social media platform, may soon launch "Xmail," a potential rival to Gmail. This revelation came after a post by the X account DodgeDesigner, who described the concept as "cool." Musk quickly confirmed in the comments that Xmail is on the platform's "to-do list," fueling excitement about the new feature.

Known for unveiling future plans through casual posts, Musk’s latest hint could mark the beginning of a major challenge to email giants. Currently, Gmail holds a 30.7% share of the global email market, while Apple Mail dominates with 53.67%.

With Musk’s influence and the backing of X, Xmail could disrupt the email landscape. As the platform expands its offerings, it may become a serious contender to both Gmail and Apple Mail, reshaping the email market.

Billionaires wanted it, but 66,930 everyday investors got it first.

When incredibly valuable assets come up for sale, it's typically the wealthiest people that end up taking home an amazing investment. But not always…

One platform is taking on the billionaires at their own game, buying up and securitizing some of the most prized blue-chip artworks for its investors.

It's called Masterworks. Their nearly $1 billion collection includes works by greats like Banksy, Picasso, and Basquiat. When Masterworks sells a painting – like the 23 it's already sold – investors reap their portion of the net proceeds.

In just the last few years, Masterworks investors have realized net annualized returns like +17.6%, +17.8%, and +21.5% (from 3 illustrative sales held longer than one year).

TikTok asks Supreme Court to block potential ban

After a federal court denied TikTok's request to delay a law that could ban the app in the U.S., the company is turning to the Supreme Court to buy more time. TikTok is asking the Court to temporarily block the law set to take effect on January 19, 2025.

In its appeal, TikTok emphasized the importance of free speech, urging the Supreme Court to apply strict scrutiny to the law and protect Americans' First Amendment rights. The company argues the law is unconstitutional and could face further challenges if enforced under a new administration.

TikTok’s request to delay the law was denied earlier this month, even after referencing President-elect Donald Trump's statement about "saving" the app. The company believes enforcing the ban just before Trump's inauguration could lead to confusion and further legal battles.

Instagram now lets you schedule DMs

Instagram has rolled out a highly anticipated feature: DM scheduling. Users can now schedule direct messages to be sent at a specific date and time, up to 29 days in advance. This makes it easier to plan communications, especially for businesses and influencers.

Currently, this feature only supports text messages, with media like photos and videos still requiring real-time sending. Instagram has been steadily enhancing its messaging system, with added features like message editing and live location sharing, and this latest update continues that trend.

While users have long been able to schedule posts, the ability to plan DMs offers more flexibility in engaging audiences at ideal times. This addition is expected to be especially useful for content creators managing multiple time zones.
