Over 4 billion Discord messages harvested by data scraper
A data scraping service known as Spy Pet is offering information on purportedly 600 million Discord users, according to a report by 404 Media. Targeting law enforcement, AI model trainers, and curious individuals, Spy Pet sells data such as server participation, message history, and voice channel activity for as little as $5 in cryptocurrency.
Spy Pet's creator cites personal interest and a challenge in scraping data from Discord, a platform known for its efforts to combat scraping. The service boasts information on 14,000 Discord servers and three billion messages.
404 Media details the functionality of Spy Pet's database, allowing users to search for specific individuals and access detailed information including server participation, message history, and voice channel activity. Paying customers can export this data into a convenient CSV file.
TikTok Notes starts rolling out as a new rival to Instagram
TikTok is launching its Instagram rival, TikTok Notes, in limited markets like Canada and Australia. The app, available on Google Play Store and Apple App Store, focuses on photo and text content, providing users a dedicated space for sharing moments and engaging with others.
Although still in its early stages, TikTok Notes allows users to log in with their existing TikTok accounts. While the company hasn't disclosed many details about its features, the app's description mentions it as a lifestyle platform for sharing travel tips, recipes, and daily experiences through photo-text content.
Screenshots suggest a two-column grid layout for posts on the home page, with support for carousel posts featuring multiple photos. TikTok's move reflects its aim to compete with Meta's platforms like Instagram by offering a distinct space for image and text posts within its ecosystem.

Among the eight bills presented, two passed in the House, despite the Senate's recent approval of just one bill concerning cryptocurrencies. There's ongoing debate over potential amendments to Act 851, with committees slated to discuss before deciding on its fate in either the current or next fiscal session.
The proposed Arkansas Data Centers Act of 2023 aims to regulate Bitcoin mining, providing guidelines for miners and safeguarding them from discriminatory regulations and taxes. It addresses concerns over the energy-intensive nature of Bitcoin mining, which generates significant electrical waste. The legislation seeks to prohibit crypto mining facilities and related activities within the state.
Yuga Labs, the creator of the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFT collection, has sold the intellectual property (IP) for two games, HV-MTL and Legends of the Mara, as part of its refocusing efforts. The announcement on April 17 revealed that Faraway, a Web3 gaming studio, acquired the IP, with Yuga Labs' gaming officer Spencer Tucker joining Faraway as the new chief product officer to ensure continuity.
HV-MTL is an NFT-based mech game where players manage and upgrade their NFTs and environments, while Legends of the Mara is an adventure game within the Otherside metaverse. Yuga Labs and Faraway had previously collaborated on Serum City, a game themed around Mutant Ape Yacht Club.
This move reflects Yuga Labs' strategy to streamline operations, initiated when co-founder Greg Solano returned as CEO in February. Solano aims to empower the BAYC team for focused execution amid the challenging NFT market conditions.
