Elon Musk unveils Tesla’s ‘Cybercab’ robotaxis
At Tesla's "We, Robot" event, Elon Musk introduced the Cybercab, an autonomous robotaxi with no steering wheels or pedals. He highlighted how autonomous cars will be safer and more efficient, allowing people to reclaim their time. Musk aims for the Cybercab to cost under $30,000, with operating costs as low as 20 cents per mile.
Musk envisions a future where people own fleets of robotaxis, earning money through ridesharing. Tesla plans to launch fully autonomous driving in Texas and California before mass-producing the Cybercab by 2027, though Musk admits his timelines are optimistic.
Tesla also revealed the Robovan, an autonomous vehicle for transporting up to 20 people, and showcased its humanoid robot, Optimus. Musk hinted at future uses for Optimus, from household chores to personal companionship, with an expected price between $20,000 to $30,000.

Marriott settles data breach case with $52 million payout
Marriott International is facing scrutiny after multiple data breaches exposed sensitive information of over 344 million customers worldwide. In response, Marriott has agreed to a $52 million settlement with 50 US attorneys general, addressing the compromised data of 131.5 million American customers. This breach impacted passport information, payment details, and other personal data.
Additionally, Marriott reached a settlement with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), requiring the hotel chain and its subsidiary, Starwood Hotels, to enhance their cybersecurity systems. New measures include data minimization and account review tools, alongside an option for guests to request the deletion of their information.
The breaches, which occurred between 2014 and 2020, highlight ongoing cybersecurity challenges for Marriott and Starwood, with past attacks leveraging social engineering to steal large amounts of customer data.

AMD launches AI chip to rival Nvidia's Blackwell
AMD has launched the Instinct MI325X, a new AI chip aimed at challenging Nvidia’s dominance in the data center GPU market. The chip will enter production by the end of 2024, with hopes of offering a strong alternative to Nvidia’s high-margin GPUs, which have been in heavy demand for AI tasks like those powering OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
The AI chip market is booming, expected to reach $500 billion by 2028. AMD, traditionally second to Nvidia, is aiming to capture more of this growing market. CEO Lisa Su emphasized the increasing demand for AI solutions, noting rapid investment across the sector.
Although no new major customers were announced, AMD has previously disclosed that Meta and Microsoft use its AI chips. The company plans to release new chips annually, with the MI350 scheduled for 2025 and MI400 for 2026.

Suki raises $70 million for AI healthcare platform
Healthcare AI firm Suki has raised $70 million in new funding to accelerate the development of its AI-powered products, including a voice assistant used by clinicians. The funding will help expand Suki's offerings and strengthen partnerships, particularly with MedStar Health, a key collaborator.
Suki's AI assistant replaces manual transcription and retrieves patient data, streamlining tasks for healthcare providers. The company also offers the Suki platform, a suite of tools for tech firms to integrate AI into their own solutions. Over a dozen major health systems have recently adopted or expanded their use of Suki's technology.
With AI gaining traction in healthcare, Suki aims to enhance clinical workflows by leveraging natural language processing and speech recognition to improve note-taking and patient interactions.
