Tesla Cybertruck explodes outside Trump Las Vegas hotel

A Tesla Cybertruck exploded outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas on New Year’s Day, leaving one dead and seven with minor injuries, confirmed Sheriff Kevin McMahill. The truck, rented in Colorado, was tracked to Las Vegas through Tesla charging stations and license plate scanners, arriving just moments before the blast.

Authorities discovered gasoline canisters, camp fuel, and firework mortars in the truck’s bed, which were likely part of a detonation system controlled by the driver. Fire crews extinguished the blaze within an hour, and Elon Musk provided additional vehicle data, helping investigators access locked systems after the explosion.

The FBI has evacuated the hotel as a precaution, though McMahill reassures there’s no ongoing threat. Musk clarified that Tesla’s data confirms the Cybertruck itself was not the cause of the explosion.

'X Money' payment system to launch in 2025

X, formerly Twitter, is merging social media with finance and AI to redefine its platform in 2025. CEO Linda Yaccarino recently announced upcoming features that promise innovative ways to connect and engage, marking a shift beyond traditional social interactions.

The roadmap includes integrating the Grok AI chatbot, launching X Money for peer-to-peer payments, and introducing X TV. Montenegro extradites Terraform Lab co-founder Do Kwon to US

Terraform Labs CEO Do Kwon was extradited to the US on the last day of 2024, Reuters reports, to face charges of orchestrating a multi-billion-dollar crypto fraud. Accused of misleading investors about the stability of TerraUSD and Luna, Kwon has been in custody since March 2023 after attempting to travel with a forged passport, months after an Interpol "red notice" was issued.

The collapse of TerraUSD and Luna in May 2022 wiped out $40 billion from the crypto market, devastating investors. The SEC charged Kwon in February 2023, alleging he misled the public with false claims about the coins’ stability while committing securities fraud. South Korea has leveled similar accusations.

After a lengthy legal battle, Montenegro approved his extradition last week. This marks a critical moment in the legal reckoning for Terraform Labs, which filed for bankruptcy early last year.

Steno Research forecasts crypto boom in 2025

2025 could be a breakthrough year for cryptocurrency, with Bitcoin and Ether expected to soar past all-time highs. Steno Research predicts Bitcoin will exceed $150,000, while Ether could surpass $8,000. This bullish outlook is supported by a favorable regulatory environment, declining interest rates, and strong post-halving performance for Bitcoin.

In addition, Steno forecasts a major altcoin season, with Ether outperforming Bitcoin. The ETH/BTC ratio is expected to rise significantly, driving altcoins to gain more market share. Bitcoin dominance is predicted to fall from 57% to 45%, spurred by increased institutional adoption and favorable macroeconomic conditions.

Steno also expects substantial inflows into Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs, projecting $48 billion for Bitcoin and $28.5 billion for Ethereum in 2025, further fueling market growth.
