T-Mobile Hit by Cyberattack Linked to Chinese Hacking Group

T-Mobile confirms being part of a series of cyberattacks by a Chinese-backed hacking group targeting U.S. telecoms, though no major data impact reported.

T-Mobile was recently targeted in a cyberattack as part of a larger campaign aimed at U.S. and international telecom companies, as reported by the Wall Street Journal. The breach is believed to be connected to a group of hackers working on behalf of the Chinese government, known as Salt Typhoon.

These attacks have been focusing on wiretap systems that telecom giants, including AT&T, Verizon, and Lumen, are legally required to provide access to under a long-standing U.S. law.
