Swedish Fintech Klarna Confirms 2025 New York IPO Plans

Klarna, a leading BNPL company, confirms New York as its choice for a 2025 IPO, with an estimated valuation up to $20 billion.

Klarna, one of Sweden’s top fintech companies and a global leader in the buy-now-pay-later (BNPL) sector, has confirmed its intention to list on the New York Stock Exchange in 2025.

The Stockholm-based company announced on November 13 that it had confidentially submitted a draft registration with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, setting the stage for a high-profile initial public offering (IPO) expected to value the company between $15 billion and $20 billion.

Founded in 2005 by Sebastian Siemiatkowski, Klarna once held a peak valuation of $46 billion after a funding round led by SoftBank in 2021. However, subsequent rate hikes prompted a revaluation of the fintech sector, impacting Klarna’s estimated worth.

Recent investment by Chrysalis Investments in October 2024 valued the company at roughly $14.6 billion, giving Klarna a steady platform ahead of its US listing.
