Spotify Teases Super Premium Tier and Video Expansion in Latest Earnings Call

Spotify's CEO Daniel Ek hints at the upcoming launch of a high-tier subscription for superfans with exclusive perks and better sound quality, alongside video growth plans.

Spotify has teased its much-anticipated "super premium" tier during its Q3 earnings call. CEO Daniel Ek confirmed that the platform plans to launch this higher-priced subscription, expected to cost $17-18 per month, with features like CD-quality, lossless audio, and other exclusive benefits for superfans. The tier was initially announced in 2021 but has been delayed due to licensing issues.

The super premium tier will focus on offering better sound quality and additional perks, such as early access to music. While services like Apple Music and Amazon Music have offered lossless audio for some time, Spotify's delay has led to speculation about additional features. Ek mentioned that AI-driven tools could be part of the offering, although Spotify has already introduced some AI features to Premium subscribers earlier in the year.
