Spotify Launches Partner Program for Podcast Video Monetization
The new Partner Program lets creators monetize video content and enhances Spotify's video podcast features, including ad-free video for Premium users.
Spotify has officially launched its "Partner Program," a new initiative that allows podcast creators to monetize video content directly on the platform. The program, now available in the U.S., U.K., Canada, and Australia, provides qualifying creators with income opportunities beyond traditional ad revenue, such as video payouts.
Initially announced at Spotify's Now Playing event in November, the program has already attracted over 65% of eligible podcast shows, including Smart Money Happy Hour, The Paranormal Podcast, and Girls Rewatch Podcast.
The move signals Spotify's growing focus on expanding its video podcast library to compete with platforms like YouTube, which currently dominates the video space.
Alongside the Partner Program, Spotify has introduced new tools and features to improve the user experience. Premium subscribers can now watch video podcasts without interruptions from ads, offering an enhanced viewing experience.
Additionally, Spotify has launched Podcast Clips, a short-form video tool designed to help creators promote their shows and increase listener engagement. The company reports that clips are 33% more effective than previews at converting browsers into active listeners.
By investing in video podcasting and creator monetization, Spotify aims to solidify its position in the competitive podcasting market and attract a broader audience while offering innovative tools to support creators. This move represents Spotify's continued push to blend audio and video content in new, engaging ways.
