Instagram is testing the option to turn off read receipts
Instagram is finally testing a feature that will let users turn off read receipts for Instagram direct messages.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Instagram head Adam Mosseri both announced the update on their Instagram Broadcast channels.
Mosseri also shared an image of how the feature will work. The option will live under the Privacy and Safety tab, accessible by tapping on the name of the profile under a chat. From there, a section will appear called "Who can see your activity." Just switch the toggle below, and all views moving forward will become private.

Visa launches global AI advisory practice
Visa announced the launch of its new global artificial intelligence advisory practice on Tuesday. The service will be offered by Visa Consulting & Analytics (VCA) and, according to a press release, focus on “providing actionable insights and recommendations to empower clients to unlock the potential of AI and utilize generative AI.”
Citing its “30-year AI legacy,” Visa announced the practice alongside a range of new services related to empowering clients to understand the potential role of generative AI.
The service will be tended by VCA’s global network of “over 1,000 consultants, data scientists, and product experts in 75 offices on six continents,” according to the release.

Web3 Special
Ninety Eight, the creator of the Coin98 decentralized finance ecosystem, has launched a $25 million ecosystem fund dedicated to accelerating Web3 startups in Asia.
According to the Tuesday announcement, the fund will provide financial and strategic support for selected startups. In addition, startups can leverage the firm’s layer-1 blockchain, Viction, for low-gas-fee transactions and enhanced security.
Another key aspect of the fund is its native token, C98, designed initially as a wallet token. The C98 token allows users to store, send, receive, and manage crypto assets, as well as connect to decentralized applications on over 40 blockchains.
The United States securities regulator chief has hinted he would be open to a rebooted crypto exchange FTX — as long as it's done "within the law."
SEC Chair Gary Gensler’s comments were made in response to reports that Tom Farley, a former president of the New York Stock Exchange, is among a short list of bidders attempting to buy the bankrupt crypto exchange founded by now-convicted fraudster Sam Bankman-Fried.
“If Tom or anybody else wanted to be in this field, I would say, ‘Do it within the law,’” Gensler said in an interview at DC Fintech Week on Wednesday, according to CNBC. “Build the trust of investors in what you’re doing and ensure that you’re doing the proper disclosures — and also that you’re not commingling all these functions, trading against your customers. Or using their crypto assets for your own purposes.”
Cathie Wood's Ark Invest is preparing to launch a new suite of ETFs with 21Shares that will give investors "a robust set of options for introducing exposure to digital assets into a portfolio."
"Leveraging onchain signals and our crypto-native experience, the suite aims to deliver long-term capital appreciation through strategic investments in Bitcoin and Ethereum futures contracts, and the application of blockchain technologies," 21Shares said.
The ETFs will be listed on the Chicago Board Options Exchange (Cboe), according to prospectuses. There are a total of five products that will begin trading next week.
