STORIES MAKING A SPLASH

Elon Musk ditches day in court over $1M voter giveaway

Elon Musk skipped a Philadelphia courtroom appearance despite a judge’s mandate for “all parties” to attend, as District Attorney Larry Krasner sues him over a super PAC plan to award $1 million daily to voters in battleground states for the 2024 election.

Musk’s legal team moved to transfer the case to federal court, arguing jurisdiction, while Krasner’s team seeks to return it to state court. A federal judge ordered Musk’s attorneys to respond by Friday morning. Krasner’s attorney contends the case involves state law issues and should stay within the local jurisdiction.

The super PAC, heavily funded by Musk and supporting Republican interests, has already awarded $1 million each to 12 recipients, sparking scrutiny from both Krasner’s office and the Justice Department over potential legal violations.

The Rising Demand for Whiskey: A Smart Investor’s Choice

Why are 250,000 Vinovest customers investing in whiskey?

In a word - consumption.

Global alcohol consumption is on the rise, with projections hitting new peaks by 2028. Whiskey, in particular, is experiencing significant growth, with the number of US craft distilleries quadrupling in the past decade. Younger generations are moving from beer to cocktails, boosting whiskey's popularity.

That’s not all.

Whiskey's tangible nature, market resilience, and Vinovest’s strategic approach make whiskey a smart addition to any diversified portfolio.

TECH
Election betting site Polymarket is rife with ‘wash’ trading

Investigations by Chaos Labs and Inca Digital found that about 30% of activity on Polymarket related to the 2024 U.S. presidential election is due to wash trading, a tactic used to inflate trading volume. According to the report from Fortune, while Polymarket claimed $2.7 billion in transaction volume, the actual figure is believed to be only $1.75 billion.

This discrepancy arises because Polymarket counts shares in whole dollar amounts, despite individual shares trading for less than $1. Additionally, data from Dune shows open interest for the election on Polymarket at just over $150 million, indicating a significant difference between open interest and reported volume.

As the race progressed, Donald Trump initially held a narrow lead over Kamala Harris, which expanded to a 30-point advantage by mid-October, raising concerns of market manipulation. In response, Polymarket began efforts to filter out U.S. users and mitigate potential manipulation.

AI SPECIAL

AI SPECIAL
OpenAI’s search engine is now live in ChatGPT

ChatGPT is now equipped with AI-powered web search, enabling paid subscribers to access real-time information directly within conversations, with broader access for free and enterprise users on the way.

Instead of a separate app, web search is integrated into ChatGPT’s interface, using AI to determine when web results are relevant, though users can also activate it manually. This launch closes a gap with rivals like Microsoft Copilot and Google Gemini, both of which already offer live internet integration in their AI tools.

During a demo, ChatGPT’s Adam Fry showcased searches for Apple stock and nearby Italian restaurants, with results including interactive maps and news articles linked to original sources. Available on all platforms, ChatGPT’s search is powered by a customized version of GPT-4o and Microsoft’s Bing technology.

AI SPECIAL
Google Maps is getting new AI features

Google is expanding its Gemini AI assistant within its software suite, introducing new features for Google Maps. Users can now ask conversational questions about locations and receive tailored suggestions from Gemini. Additionally, when viewing a spot, Gemini will summarize reviews, enhancing the user experience. These AI features will begin rolling out on Android and iOS this week.

The Immersive View Maps feature will leverage AI to show what locations look like at specific dates and times, expanding to 150 cities, including Brussels and Kyoto. New categories, like college campuses, are also being added.

Driving directions will improve with a new button to add stops, allowing users to explore landmarks along their route. Navigation will provide clearer instructions on complex areas, launching next month in over 30 metro areas. Waze will also gain Gemini’s Conversational Reporting for reporting hazards in natural language.
