OpenAI Acquires Chat.com for Undisclosed Amount

OpenAI has added another high-profile domain to its portfolio with the acquisition of Chat.com. Now, visitors to Chat.com are redirected to ChatGPT, OpenAI’s popular AI chatbot.

Originally registered in 1996, Chat.com is one of the internet’s earliest domain names. Last year, Hubspot co-founder Dharmesh Shah reportedly purchased it for $15.5 million, making it one of the most expensive domain sales on record.

Interestingly, it appears that Chat.com hasn’t changed ownership since Shah’s purchase, suggesting that OpenAI is using the domain for redirection rather than rebranding ChatGPT.
