Nvidia to Introduce 100-Hour Monthly Cap on GeForce Now Playtime
Nvidia rebrands Priority membership, adds new features, and caps playtime for new subscribers to manage demand and maintain pricing
Nvidia is rolling out significant changes to its GeForce Now cloud gaming service, including rebranding the Priority membership as Performance and introducing a monthly playtime cap.
The updated Performance membership offers 1440p streaming, ultrawide support, and the ability to save graphics settings across sessions.
Starting January 2025, new GeForce Now members will have a 100-hour monthly playtime limit, which Nvidia says is necessary to prevent a price increase. The cap equates to roughly three hours of gameplay per day, which Nvidia aims to maintain high-quality service levels without raising fees.
This cap will eventually apply to existing members starting in 2026, except for those with Founder memberships, who retain unlimited playtime if their subscriptions remain uninterrupted.
Subscribers can roll over up to 15 hours of unused time each month. If they reach the cap, they can either purchase additional playtime or continue gaming on Basic rigs.
Nvidia also offers a 25% discount on day passes for Performance and Ultimate tiers until November 22, giving members a chance to lock in unlimited playtime for a year before the cap takes effect for existing subscribers.
