Apple announces new accessibility features for iOS 18
Apple has revealed upcoming accessibility enhancements for iOS and iPadOS, including eye tracking powered by AI to aid users with physical disabilities in navigation. Another feature, "music haptics," will use the iPhone's Taptic Engine to provide vibrations synchronized with Apple Music tracks, benefitting users who are deaf or hard of hearing.
These updates also address motion sickness when using an iPhone in motion, adding features to mitigate discomfort. The eye tracking tool uses the front-facing camera and on-device machine learning for setup and control, ensuring user data remains secure without sharing with Apple.
Expected to launch with iOS and iPadOS 18, these enhancements will be detailed further at Apple's upcoming WWDC event. Music haptics will expand accessibility by offering a tactile music experience, catering to diverse user needs.
Blue Origin to resume space tourist flights on Sunday
Blue Origin plans to break its human-spaceflight hiatus this Sunday with the NS-25 mission, set to launch from its Texas site at 9:30 a.m. EDT. The company will livestream the event starting at 8:50 a.m. EDT. The mission marks the 25th New Shepard liftoff, offering passengers about 11 minutes of weightlessness and a glimpse of Earth against the backdrop of space.
Using the reusable New Shepard vehicle, Blue Origin aims to resume its suborbital space tourism efforts. Following a setback in 2022 due to a nozzle failure, the company grounded New Shepard for investigation and implemented fixes. Since then, it successfully conducted an uncrewed flight in December 2023, leading up to this upcoming crewed mission.
This launch signifies Blue Origin's return to crewed spaceflight, demonstrating its commitment to advancing commercial space tourism despite past setbacks.

Mastercard unveiled five new startups joining its Start Path Blockchain and Digital Assets program on May 15. This initiative is a fintech accelerator aimed at scaling innovative solutions with global startups. The newcomers include Kulipa, a crypto payment and card issuer; Parafin, a blockchain software firm; peaq, specializing in decentralized physical infrastructure networks (DePin); Triangle, a data platform; and Venly, a blockchain developer.
Mastercard emphasized tackling specific issues through use cases and trials in this leg of the program. It seeks out high-potential startups in blockchain, digital assets, and Web3 for collaboration, bespoke training, and access to its networks over a four-month period.
Since its launch in 2014, Start Path has supported over 400 startups across 54 countries, solidifying Mastercard's leadership in the fintech and blockchain payments landscape.
Two brothers were arrested this week for exploiting the Ethereum blockchain, stealing $25 million in crypto in 12 seconds. Anton Peraire-Bueno, 24, and James Pepaire-Bueno, 28, face charges of wire fraud, conspiracy, and money laundering, appearing in courts in Massachusetts and New York.
US Attorney Damian Williams described the charges as unprecedented, vowing to prosecute those undermining financial systems. The case centered on "maximal extractable value" (MEV), vital in DeFi profitability, targeting traders with MEV bots.
The brothers, with backgrounds in math and computer science from prestigious universities, used their expertise in crypto trading. They meticulously planned the theft, seeking information online on executing, concealing, and laundering proceeds. If convicted, each could face up to 20 years in prison.
