SpaceX launches Polaris Dawn spacewalk mission
In the early hours of Tuesday, a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launched from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, carrying the Polaris Dawn crew on a groundbreaking mission. They aim to achieve the first commercial spacewalk and reach the highest altitude by humans in fifty years.
The SpaceX Crew Dragon capsule will peak at 1,400 kilometers (870 miles) above Earth, surpassing the altitude of the Apollo 17 mission to the Moon in 1972 and reaching three times the height of the International Space Station. This historic journey comes after several weather-related delays.
The crew, consisting of billionaire entrepreneur Jared Isaacman, retired U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Scott “Kidd” Poteet, and SpaceX employees Sarah Gillis and Anna Menon, will navigate through the Van Allen belts to study radiation effects on the human body.

CRYPTO
PayPal, Venmo partner with ENS for crypto payments
Venmo and PayPal users can now transfer cryptocurrency using Ethereum Name Service (ENS) names, as announced by ENS Labs on September 10. This new feature is set to benefit over 270 million U.S. users by allowing transactions through user-friendly names like “yourname.eth” instead of long, complex addresses.
The integration simplifies wallet transfers and reduces the risk of errors and lost funds. PayPal, which has been active in the blockchain sector, recently saw its stablecoin, PayPal USD, exceed $1 billion in market cap. In May, PayPal expanded its blockchain presence with the launch of PYUSD on the Solana network, partnering with Crypto.com, Phantom, and Paxos.
ENS, an open-source protocol for simplifying Ethereum addresses, continues to evolve. Its developer, ENS Labs, has been expanding the protocol and recently upgraded to a layer-2 network to improve efficiency.

Huawei launches world's first triple-foldable phone
Huawei's new flagship, the Mate XT, is pushing the envelope in the smartphone world with its staggering price tag of 19,999 yuan (around $2,800). This triple-fold phone, debuting in China, is priced higher than an 11-inch iPad Pro, M3 MacBook Air, and an iPhone 16 combined.
After five years of development, Huawei has achieved breakthroughs in screen and hinge technology with the Mate XT. The device features an accordion-style fold, with one hinge bending outward and another inward, offering a 6.4-inch exterior display. Richard Yu, Huawei’s consumer business chairman, touted it as the world’s largest and thinnest foldable smartphone, marking firsts in both outward and inward folding without gaps.
Despite its premium price, the Mate XT has already stirred excitement among Chinese consumers, with 3.7 million preorders logged by early Tuesday.
TECH SPECIAL
Sony announces PlayStation 5 Pro with larger GPU
Sony has officially unveiled the PS5 Pro, set to hit shelves on November 7 with a steep price of $700. Pre-orders begin on September 26. Like the PS5 Slim, additional accessories such as a disc drive and vertical stand will cost extra.
The PS5 Pro promises significant upgrades over the original PS5, aiming to enhance graphical fidelity and performance. Key improvements include a larger GPU, advanced ray-tracing capabilities, and AI-driven upscaling. These enhancements are designed to deliver more consistent frame rates and better overall graphical performance.
The new GPU features 67% more compute units and 28% faster RAM, allowing for up to 45% faster rendering. Ray-tracing performance could be up to three times faster, and Sony's AI upscaling, known as PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), aims to rival NVIDIA's DLSS.
