Apple's foldable MacBook production pushed to 2028
As foldable smartphones flood the market, Apple remains absent with no foldable iPhone yet. While competitors like Samsung advance their sixth generation of foldable devices, Apple is reportedly focused on perfecting its own technology, aiming to eliminate noticeable creases in screens.
New insights from tipster Ming-Chi Kuo suggest that Apple’s foldable MacBook or iPad may face significant delays. Manufacturing issues have pushed the mass production schedule from early 2026 to late 2027 or 2028. Apple has settled on an 18.8-inch display size, opting for a smaller screen over a previously rumored 20.25-inch design.
Kuo also reveals that there will be no separate foldable iPad launching in 2025. Instead, the rumored foldable MacBook and iPad are likely to be the same device, with the release potentially delayed until 2028.

Neuralink patient uses implant to play Counter-Strike 2
Alex, the second person to receive a Neuralink brain implant, has regained control over digital devices after losing limb function due to a spinal injury. The implant, known as the Link, was successfully placed last month at Barrow Neurological Institute, allowing Alex to play Counter-Strike 2 using a Quadstick joystick and aiming purely through thought.
Beyond gaming, Alex is exploring other creative uses for the Link, such as designing and 3D-printing a custom mount for the implant’s charger. This highlights the implant’s potential to enable users to perform complex tasks and regain a sense of normalcy.
Neuralink has addressed earlier technical issues encountered with its first patient, where electrodes retracted post-surgery. These fixes mark significant progress in the development of this groundbreaking technology.

OpenAI says California's AI bill will hurt innovation
OpenAI's Jason Kwon argues that AI regulations should be handled federally, warning that California's proposed AI safety bill could stifle innovation and drive businesses away. This bill, SB 1047, introduced by State Senator Scott Wiener, seeks to set AI development standards, including safety testing, whistleblower protections, and a public cloud cluster called CalCompute.
Wiener counters that the bill’s requirements apply to all companies operating in California, making OpenAI’s objections irrelevant. He highlights that the bill enforces safety protocols that large AI labs have already committed to.
Currently, the bill is awaiting a final vote before going to Governor Gavin Newsom, with recent amendments replacing criminal penalties with civil ones and refining the Attorney General’s enforcement powers.

Dropbox acquires AI-powered calendar app Reclaim.ai
Dropbox has acquired Reclaim.ai, an AI-powered scheduling tool backed by investors like Calendly and Index Ventures. The terms of the deal were not disclosed. Reclaim.ai, founded in 2019 by Henry Shapiro and Patrick Lightbody, will continue its development and support for its 320,000 global users under Dropbox’s ownership.
Reclaim.ai uses AI to optimize time management and integrates with Google Calendar, offering features for scheduling meetings, tasks, and breaks. It competes with tools such as Calendly and Clockwise. The startup, which raised over $9.5 million in funding, will maintain its pricing, with plans starting at $8 per person per month.
The entire Reclaim.ai team of 22 will join Dropbox. In a video posted on X, Reclaim.ai's founders expressed excitement about aligning with Dropbox’s mission to enhance work efficiency and explore new AI innovations.
