EU accuses Elon Musk's X of deceiving users

X is under scrutiny from the European Union for allegedly violating the Digital Services Act (DSA). The European Commission's preliminary findings highlight issues with X’s paid verification system, which officials claim deceives users and allows bad actors to exploit the blue checkmark system.

The EU also criticizes X for lacking advertising transparency, noting the absence of a searchable ad repository for researchers to study online advertising risks. Additionally, X is accused of restricting researchers' access to public data by prohibiting data scraping and imposing high fees for API access.

Thierry Breton, the EU's internal market commissioner, stated that X's practices deceive users and violate DSA transparency requirements. If found guilty, X could face fines of up to six percent of its global annual revenue and be required to make significant changes.

Wondery signs Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard

Amazon’s Wondery has secured an exclusive $80 million deal with Dax Shepard for his hit podcast, "Armchair Expert." This agreement includes co-developing two new podcasts and producing one livestream annually, along with merchandise rights and a first-look option for future projects.

The deal comes after "Armchair Expert" ended its exclusive partnership with Spotify, which has shifted to a broader distribution strategy. Wondery will gain rights to the podcast's entire back catalog, launch video episodes, and create translated versions for international audiences. New episodes will be available one week early on the Wondery+ subscription service, ad-free.

Since its 2018 debut, "Armchair Expert" has featured over 600 interviews with various celebrities and thought leaders. Shepard and co-host Monica Padman also run three weekly shows under the Armchair Umbrella Network.

OpenAI whistleblowers call for SEC probe into NDAs

OpenAI's NDAs are under scrutiny again after whistleblowers accused the company of forcing employees to sign "illegally restrictive" agreements that silence concerns about its technology.
