Elon Musk files new lawsuit against OpenAI
Elon Musk has renewed his complaint against OpenAI, alleging that founders Sam Altman and Greg Brockman breached the company’s mission to develop AI for humanity's benefit. The federal lawsuit filed in Northern California accuses Altman and Brockman of manipulating Musk into co-founding OpenAI by falsely promising it would be safer and more transparent than profit-driven alternatives.
Musk had previously filed a similar lawsuit, which he withdrew in June. That suit claimed OpenAI had broken its founding agreement to keep its technology open-source. Musk's lawyer, Marc Toberoff, described the new suit as "much more forceful."
The new lawsuit argues that OpenAI violated federal racketeering laws in a conspiracy to defraud Musk. It also contends that OpenAI's contract with Microsoft should revoke Microsoft's rights to the technology once artificial general intelligence (AGI) is achieved.

Apple removes Photos Carousel view in iOS 18 beta
Apple is dialing back some updates to the Photos app in iOS 18. Following user feedback, the company has removed and adjusted features in the latest fifth developer beta. Notably, the Carousel feature, which used on-device intelligence to display what it deemed your best photos in a swipeable row, has been completely removed after receiving substantial criticism.
In addition to removing the Carousel, Apple has refined the All Photos view to show more of the photo grid and added Recently Saved content to the Recent Days collection. Albums are now easier to find for users with multiple collections.
While the Photos app was initially highlighted as a key component of iOS 18, these changes aim to streamline the app and address concerns about unnecessary complexity, making it easier for users to navigate their photo library.

CrowdStrike denies blame for Delta's days-long outage
CrowdStrike has faced criticism for the massive IT outage that disrupted global computer systems last month. However, the company denies full responsibility for Delta's extensive flight issues, which led to over 5,000 cancellations and $500 million in losses.
Delta CEO Ed Bastian announced the airline’s decision to seek damages, but CrowdStrike claims it offered multiple forms of assistance that were rejected. According to CrowdStrike lawyer Michael Carlinsky, the company reached out promptly, including a direct offer of onsite help from its CEO, but received no response.
Carlinsky argues that if Delta pursues legal action, it must justify why its competitors, facing similar issues, recovered faster and why it declined CrowdStrike’s free assistance. He also highlights that CrowdStrike’s liability is limited by contract to a few million dollars.
