On the second-to-last day of OpenAI’s 12 Days of Shipmas, the company turned its attention to exciting updates for its MacOS desktop app and its improved interoperability with other apps. Users can now harness the power of ChatGPT directly within their workflow on MacOS, automating tasks and enhancing productivity. While more updates are slated for 2025, OpenAI has already rolled out some impressive new features.

One key addition is the “Work with Apps” button, which allows users to integrate with an expanded list of coding apps, including BBEdit, MatLab, Nova, Script Editor, TextMate, Android Studio, AppCode, CLion, DataGrip, GoLand, IntelliJ IDEA, PHPStorm, PyCharm, RubyMine, RustRover, WebStorm, Prompt, and Warp. For those who use ChatGPT for writing, the desktop app now also supports Apple Notes, Quip, and Notion.
